Who is  Samantha Jones?

Samantha Jones (she/her) is a writer, copyeditor, and earth scientist based in Moh’kins’tsis (Calgary, Alberta) on the traditional territory of Treaty 7 peoples and the home of Métis Nation of Alberta, Districts 5 and 6.

She is a magazine and journal enthusiast with work published in Room, CV2, Grain, THIS, GeoHumanities, Arctic, EVENT, The Capilano Review, and elsewhere.

Her visual OCD poetry chapbook, Site Orientation, was published by the Blasted Tree in 2022. Sam is proud of her mixed heritage, which is Black Canadian and white settler. Her debut full-length poetry collection, Attic Rain, is forthcoming with NeWest Press.

With works spanning from  2017-2024,

Sam’s work explores themes of OCD, climate change, mental health, and identity. Publications include her OCD visual poetry chapbook "Site Orientation" (2022) and forthcoming debut poetry collection "Attic Rain" (2024). Samantha’s poetry and prose have appeared in Room, THIS, Capilano Review, Arctic, and more.
